A lovely book, which scarcely needs the captions, for the idea is evident in the enchanting pictures in soft blacks and whites, with one touch of color at the end. The pictures show the world of nature asleep, the squirrels in their trees, the ground hogs in the ground, the snails in their shells, and the ground blanketed in snow. And then something awakes them, and you see them coming out to find out for themselves- as the small fry find for themselves at the end of the book. Possibly a book that has more perfection to an adult than to a child, but somehow I think children will grow into it, too.
