TOUGH ENOUGH AND SASSY

**Another visit with the lively Tatum family in their Smoky Mountain home. Times are hard for the earthy Tatums and it seems as though young Beanie might have to sell his adored pony, Sassy, in order to stock the family larder with necessities. But it is Sassy, himself, who solves the dilemma by stumbling into a hole filled with mica, and it is from these old bits of mineral that Mama Tatum fashions a collection of ""forest pretties"" which the tourists eagerly buy. There is a rich and distinctive world in the smoky illustrations and colorful language of Ruth and Latrobe Carroll's Tough Enough and Sassy. Regional values too.
