DIGBY THE ONLY DOG

A dog and cat story of grandiose proportions tells the plight of Digby, the only dog on an island where everyone had cats. Suffering through this like a real man, Digby goes a step further and all but becomes a cat in his traits and attitudes. When dogs arrive, inevitably, Digby has to become a dog all over again to avoid losing face. But one thing he will not do is chase the cats, even if it makes him lose his doghood in the eyes of his new friends. How he makes them behave is quite amusing. As drawn by Ruth Carroll, Digby, an earnest eyed springer spaniel, and the multitude of other animals, will steal your heart away.
