TOUGH ENOUGH

The successor to Beanie (1953) follows through with a story of Beanie's pup, Tough Enough, and, with Ruth Carroll's swirling blue pictures of the valley in the Great Smokies- brings out the heart of a people and a region as well. Loved by all the Tatums, at first Tough Enough falls into disfavor with his misdeeds- to the point of ostracism. But when Beanic and his sister are nearly caught in a spring flood, it is Tough Enough who saves them and comes into his own. Bursting with animal spirits.
