Liberalism as exemplified in its development during the present century is a dead issue. The forward step is in the direction of Communism (with which he identifies Socialism more nearly than is ordinarily accepted). The alternative to War is International Socialism. Such are his findings. The book analyzes his definition of Liberalism, his own progress toward Communism, and the whys and wherefores he feels Communism the ultimate good. He then proceeds to discuss his opinion that it is possible to achieve this end within certain shells of democracy, and without the excesses that have marked its accession elsewhere. As a presentation of a philosophical political creed, this is challenging though not wholly convincing.
