Orlando's neck is not drawn with a typically vulturous menacing droop. He looks more like a bald necked, big-eyed, tipsy turkey. His story guys all the fare chaotically slapped together and filmed in living cliche for the afternoon TV children's audience — intelligent animals saving the day and creaky Western shoot-'em-ups. The story is told with a minimum of text and illustrated with cartoons in three colors. It was Orlando who flew to Finely Nash in Vermont from a Mexican wasteland with Finely's father's effects. It was Orlando who flapped protectively around Finely and his mother when they went south of the border to continue Mr. N's prospecting. It was Orlando who foiled the Mexican banditti who lurked after them and reunited the piteously sick man with his gold-fevered family. Orlando is a heavy flight of fancy destined never to replace Lessie or convince TV Western fans of the foolishness of it all.
