This book is a case study of the process by which these stories found expression in three different media." The stories, "A Christmas Memory," "Among the Paths to Eden" and "Miriam," all written by Capote, appeared first in various anthologies, were then adapted as television specials by the Perrys and were finally put together in Trilogy, a feature length film selected for the Cannes Festival and soon to open back here. This details how the initial project, "A Christmas Memory" (which walked off with all the major teleVision awards) was conceived, the problems (the Perrys took an enormous personal financial risk and ABC was discouraging to say the least) and final collaboration that clicked. Most interesting is the fact that the stories, the adaptations and original treatments are all included here so that you can see how the transformations are effected. That might give it a special (if limited) fourth audience.
