THE GNOMOBILE by Upton Sinclair

THE GNOMOBILE

by Upton Sinclair

Pub Date: Sept. 8th, 1936
Publisher: Farrar & Rinehart

A fairy tale, with a mildly apparent lesson in tree conservation. The story opens in the Big Tree section of the Northwest, when the niece of a lumber king's heir makes friends with one of the two surviving tree gnomes, and agrees to help him find out if any other gnomes exist. She brings her uncle into the picture, and they take the two gnomes journeying, to find at the end of a series of fantastic adventures, that there are gnomes, living a thoroughly modern and city life, to which the younger gnome readily adapts himself. It's the kind of spoofing adults like better than children.
