The subject of this eleventh photostory by Anna Riwkin-Brick is an almost-nine-year-old girl who lives on a boat in Kashmir and longs to go to school with her brother. Salima's grandfather feels that she has much to learn at home before she can think about going off to school with the boys, but one day he returns home to announce that he has met the teacher and decided that Salima may go to school. Casual browsers will pick up a few facts about everyday life in Kashmir, but there is not enough information in text or pictures to meet school-related demand and the story is too loosely and arbitrarily constructed to be of interest in itself.
