BOOKS ALIVE

This is a book on the amenities of the book lover, not a book on book collecting. A potpourri of chit-chat about books and authors that reveals pleasant sidelights on the literary world. There are chapters on writing partners, on forgery, plagiarism, castaway and island literature, soldier authors, authors who have written books in jail, detectives, unfinished books, romans a clef, writing doctors, etc., etc. He ranges from modern to classic, and presents his material with personal affection, with a sprightliness reminiscent of Newton's bibliophile leanings. Grand for the bookish.
