MURDER AT THE SAVOY

Martin Beck, that persevering policeman but still the soul of gloom, investigates the shooting in a public hotel dining room of a very big businessman to whom no corner cut (even the eviction of a worker who had lost a job) was too petty to overlook. This is not the best in this excellent series — the quotidian realism is again there but the case itself is very thin.
