Minerva the lovable Boston terrier returns in this comforting story about the glories and limits of imagination. Minerva spends her day as a monster, complete with a scary purple mask with pointy monster horns and teeth, and just the right number of green spots. As a monster, she pounces, stomps, crashes and growls her way through the day. She does not mail letters, pick up her crayons, eat her beans or play Crazy Eights with the family. While Minerva enjoys most of her day as a monster, her patient and understanding parents gently remind her that life as a middle child in their family is just where she wants to beā¦and where they want her to be. Saturated gouache-and-pencil illustrations, especially those featuring the many expressive faces of the heroine, add a comedic touch to this empathetic tale. Little ones will understand the many moods of Minerva and will cheer her return to her warm family. (Picture book. 2-5)
