Amazon Prime Video dropped a trailer for Cross, its upcoming series based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels.

Patterson introduced his character, a Washington, D.C., police detective and psychologist, in his 1993 novel, Along Came a Spider. More than 30 books in the series followed; the next installment, The House of Cross, is slated for publication in November. Three of the novels—Along Came a Spider, Kiss the Girls, and Cross—have been adapted into films.

The Cross series is created by Ben Watkins (Burn Notice) and stars Aldis Hodge (Hidden Figures) in the title role. Also starring are Jennifer Wigmore (Y: The Last Man), Stacie Greenwell (Shameless), Sharon Taylor (Bad Blood), and Mercedes de la Zerda (The Sinner).

The trailer opens with a voiceover from a murderer whom Cross is chasing: “I’m not a monster. I don’t kill for fun. You’re going to be part of a masterpiece. And when I’m done, the world will know the truth.”

In other scenes, Hodge is shown playing a piano, interrogating a suspect, and staring at a bulletin board with notes and photographs. He tells another character that he lost his wife a year before, and is told by a friend, “You’re not managing very well.”

The trailer ends with Hodge being asked, “You think you can stop him?” He replies, “I know I can, ’cause I know him better than he knows himself.”

Cross, which has already been renewed for a second season, premieres on Nov. 14.
