Amy Poehler is producing an unscripted TV series based on Margareta Magnusson’s The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, Deadline reports.

Magnusson’s book, published in the U.S. in 2018 by Scribner, is a decluttering guide based on the Swedish concept of döstädning, or death cleaning. The publisher says the book features Magnusson’s “radical and joyous method for putting things in order” and “helps families broach sensitive conversations, and makes the process uplifting rather than overwhelming.”

In a video profile posted by publisher Versilio, Magnusson explained the concept of death cleaning.

“One day when you’re not around anymore, your family will have to take care of all that stuff,” she said. “I don’t think that’s fair, really.…Don’t collect things that you don’t want. Someone has to take care of it one day.”

Poehler will produce the show for Peacock, along with Scout Productions, the company behind shows like Queer Eye and To Catch a Beautician. The Parks and Recreation star will also narrate the show.

The series will feature a Swedish cleaner who will visit people in their homes, and help them organize while making sense of their lives and relationships.

“We are so excited to work on such a life affirming project with the genius creators at Scout,” Poehler told Deadline. “Swedish Death Cleaning reminds us to focus on what is truly important, and we couldn’t find a better team to take this journey with than Peacock and the incredible Scout Team.”
