Apple TV+ has released a trailer for The Pigeon Tunnel, Errol Morris’ documentary about the late, legendary spy novelist John le Carré, Deadline reports.
News of the film was announced last month. It comes from Morris, the acclaimed filmmaker known for his documentaries, including The Thin Blue Line; Fast, Cheap & Out of Control; and The Fog of War, and is inspired by le Carré’s 2016 memoir of the same name.
Apple TV+ says the documentary “spans six decades as le Carré delivers his final and most candid interview, punctuated with rare archival footage and dramatized vignettes.”
The trailer opens with Morris saying to le Carré, “You asked me about the nature of our relationship.” Le Carré says in return, “I needed to know who I was talking to. Were you my friend across the fire? Who are you?”
Morris replies, “And if I can’t answer that question?” Le Carré laughs in response.
It ends with another exchange between the two, with Morris saying, “Maybe this is an interrogation. Maybe I am self-deceived.” Le Carré replies, “I don’t know. But I’ll answer any question you wish me to answer, as truthfully as I can.”
The Pigeon Tunnel is slated to premiere on Apple TV+ and in select theaters on Oct. 20.
