Almost three months after revealing that he was battling cancer, Hank Green announced that he’s now in remission from the disease.
Green, author of the novels An Absolutely Remarkable Thing and A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor, updated readers about his health on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Had my first post-treatment follow-up with my oncologist today and, as of right now, I am officially in complete remission,” he wrote. “Chance of relapse is low, but still very present. I have a scan in three months to make sure everything's still good.”
Green is a beloved Internet personality, best known for the YouTube channel Vlogbrothers, which he founded with his brother, novelist John Green (The Fault in Our Stars, Looking for Alaska).
In June, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. In a video posted on YouTube, he said, “It’s the most treatable—one of the most treatable cancers. It responds very well to treatment. The goal is cure. The procedure to get there is fairly well known, if unpleasant.”
In his health update on X, Green wrote, “I can't emphasize enough that chemotherapy is both brutal and miraculous. Just feeling utterly grateful to all of the people who have been part of the scientific and medical processes that made this possible.”
