Cher stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss her recent memoir.
The singer and actor’s Cher: The Memoir, Part One was published in November by Dey Street; the book tells the story of the first part of her life and career. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “The vicarious experience of wealth, glamour, and romance is rarely this much fun. A truly great celebrity memoir.”
Kimmel said he sometimes thinks about writing a book, but that he fears he would have “no stories left to tell people at dinner.”
“No, I’ve got a volume two,” Cher said. “I didn’t want to squish it together, because then…you wouldn’t be able to read it. I wanted to have time. I wanted to write the first one to see how it was, and did I do a good job, and would people be interested.”
Kimmel asked, “Will there be two volumes, or will there be three? When will it go up to? Will this interview be part of the next book?”
“No, I think it’s done,” Cher said.
Kimmel then said, “You wrote about losing your virginity to a guy in Toluca Lake,” referring to the Los Angeles neighborhood.
“I did?” Cher asked, incredulous, then laughed.
“Do you think we could find the spot?” Kimmel asked.
“I don’t remember the guy,” Cher responded.
