Hulu will be raising a very different kind of hell next year—with a film adaptation of Hellraiser creator Clive Barker’s Books of Blood.

Producer and screenwriter Brannon Braga, who’s best known for his work on the Star Trek TV and film franchise, will co-write and direct a movie adaptation of the horror-story collections, according to Variety. The film, which will be made up of three, as-yet-unnamed stories, is set to premiere next fall, and will feature Anna Friel of Pushing Daisies fame.

Barker’s six Books of Blood anthologies were published in 1984 and ’85. A number of their tales have been adapted as horror films, including “The Forbidden,” which served as the basis for 1992’s Candyman, and “The Midnight Meat Train,” which inspired the 2008 film of the same name starring Bradley Cooper in an early role.

The English author is also an accomplished screenwriter and director; he most famously helmed the 1987 film Hellraiser, which was based on his 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart.

Braga was an executive producer on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise, and he co-created the latter. He also co-wrote the films Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: First Contact. In addition, he was an executive producer of the 2009 TV series FlashForward, which was based on SF author Robert J. Sawyer’s 1999 novel. Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will also executive-produce Books of Blood; Braga currently serves as an executive producer on MacFarlane’s SF TV series The Orville on Hulu.
