Disney+ has dropped a trailer for Peter Pan & Wendy, the upcoming film adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic 1911 novel.
The movie, set to premiere on Disney+ on April 28, is directed by David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon) and written by Lowery and Toby Halbrooks. It stars Alexander Molony (The Reluctant Landlord) as Peter, Ever Anderson (Black Widow) as Wendy, along with Yara Shahidi (Black-ish) as Tinker Bell and Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley) as Captain Hook.
The trailer opens with a shot of Anderson as Wendy standing on a shore, as Law as Hook says in a voiceover, “Tell me, how did you come to Neverland?”
Anderson encounters a group of Lost Boys (played by Caelan Edie, Diana Tsoy, and Kelsey and Skylar Yates). Later, the group of children is shown flying over an ocean and dodging cannonballs from a pirate ship.
Toward the end of the trailer, Law as Hook makes his appearance, holding a sword. “Wendy Moira Angela Darling, where is Peter Pan?” he asks in a menacing voice.
Other cast members include Jim Gaffigan (My Boys), Joshua Pickering (A Discovery of Witches), Alan Tudyk (Firefly), Molly Parker (Deadwood), and newcomer Jacobi Jupe.
"In making Peter Pan & Wendy, we set out to craft a film that honors both the original J.M. Barrie text and Walt Disney's animated adaptation; we wanted to invigorate our retelling with emotional sincerity, an open heart and a grand yearning for adventure," Lowery told People magazine in a statement.
