Gypsy-Rose Blanchard will narrate the audiobook edition of her forthcoming memoir, People magazine reports.
Blanchard will lend her voice to My Time To Stand, co-written with Melissa Moore and Michele Matrisciani, which is scheduled for publication later this year by BenBella Books.
Blanchard drew national attention after the 2015 stabbing death of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, in Missouri. Gypsy-Rose Blanchard and her boyfriend at the time, Nicholas Godejohn, were convicted of murder in the slaying; Blanchard served eight years in prison for the crime, while Godejohn drew a sentence of life without parole.
Gypsy-Rose Blanchard said that she was physically and psychologically abused by her mother, who allegedly forced her to pretend that she was seriously ill and to use a wheelchair that she didn’t need.
The Amazon page for My Time To Stand describes the book as a “revelatory, harrowing, and ultimately hopeful memoir,” in which Blanchard will write about her childhood abuse and her time in prison.
“I can’t think of a better way to connect with readers than for them to hear my voice as I read the words of my life’s journey so far,” Blanchard told People. “I hope readers will feel like I’m in the room with them, so they can find the strength, hope and inspiration to explore their own stories and heal.”
The print and audiobook editions of My Time To Stand are slated for release on Dec. 10.
