Dave Eggers’ latest novel is headed to the small screen, Deadline reports.

HBO is producing an adaptation of Eggers’ The Every, which was published last November by Vintage. The novel, a sequel to his 2013 book, The Circle, follows a woman who takes a job at a massive tech company with the goal of bringing it down. A critic for Kirkus called the novel “a baggy, plodding jeremiad that is “further proof that noble values don’t guarantee good fiction.”

The network plans to adapt the novel as a half-hour series. Rachel Axler, known for her writing on shows such as New Girl, Veep, and The Daily Show, will write and executive produce the show; other executive producers include Eggers and David Miner (30 Rock, The Good Place).

Eggers’ The Circle spawned a 2017 film adaptation featuring Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, and John Boyega. The film wasn’t a hit with audiences or critics.

HBO seems to be banking on the possibility that this adaptation will be better received. Amy Gravitt, an executive vice president at the network, said, “In this equally terrifying and hilarious cautionary tale, Dave Eggers shows us the increasing cost of the frictionless life that technology enables. As he writes, ‘Nothing described herein actually happened, though much of it likely will,’ and what better starting point for an HBO comedy script?”
