Ballantine Bantam Dell has announced that it will publish Holly Jackson’s debut adult suspense novel next summer. According to a release, the book, titled Not Quite Dead Yet, features a protagonist who is told she has days to live and “decides to use her precious last days to solve her own murder.”

Jackson launched her career in 2020 with the first title in her Good Girl’s Guide series, which Kirkus called “a treat for mystery readers who enjoy being kept in suspense.” A No. 1 New York Times bestseller, it spawned three sequels. Jackson has also written a pair of standalone mysteries, the latest of which, The Reappearance of Rachel Price, was published in April. According to the publisher, the British author has sold nearly 5 million copies of her books in the United States.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder was adapted as a Netflix series starring Emma Myers as the novel’s main protagonist, Pip. The series released in August, reaching No. 1 on the streaming service’s global chart.

“Though this is something new for me, branching out into the adult market, I think readers will feel right at home in my latest book, with the same thrills and unhinged twists you have come to expect from me,” Jackson said in the release.

Not Quite Dead Yet is scheduled for publication on July 22, 2025.
