Walter Isaacson’s biography of controversial billionaire Elon Musk will be published this summer, Simon & Schuster announced in a news release.

The publisher describes Isaacson’s Elon Musk as “the revealing inside story, filled with amazing tales of triumphs and turmoil, that addresses the question: are the demons that drive Musk also what it takes to drive innovation and progress?”

Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, was already a household name before he bought Twitter last year. His tenure as the social media company’s CEO has been fraught with drama; he was criticized for laying off much of the company’s workforce and overhauling its “blue check” verification system.

Musk announced that Isaacson was writing his biography in 2021, and Isaacson later confirmed the project. Isaacson is one of the country’s best known biographers; many of his books, including Benjamin Franklin, Steve Jobs, and Leonardo da Vinci, have been bestsellers.

Simon & Schuster says that Isaacson’s Musk biography is “the astonishingly intimate story of the most fascinating and controversial innovator of our era—a rule-breaking visionary who helped to lead the world into the era of electric vehicles, private space exploration, and artificial intelligence. Oh, and took over Twitter.”

Elon Musk is scheduled for publication on Sept. 12.
