Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and his son, drummer Spencer Tweedy, both announced they’re coming out with new books.

Jeff Tweedy announced earlier this month that his new book, How to Write One Song: Loving the Things We Create and How They Love Us Back, will be published by Dutton on Oct. 13. The publisher says the book is “about the importance of making creativity part of your life every day, and of experiencing the hope, inspiration, and joy available to anyone who’s willing to get started.”

His son Spencer Tweedy, who plays drums with his father in the rock band Tweedy, is writing a book about home recording, Pitchfork reports. Mirror Sound: The People and Processes Behind Self-Recorded Music, co-written with Lawrence Azerrad, is slated for publication on Oct. 20 by Penguin Random House imprint Prestel.

The book, which contains photographs by Daniel Topete and a foreword by Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney, is a “visual portrait that delves into the people and processes behind self-recorded music, featuring some of the biggest names in music today,” Prestel said. Musicians featured in the book include Eleanor Friedberger of The Fiery Furnaces, Bradford Cox of Deerhunter, and Yuka Honda.

Mirror Sound is Spencer Tweedy’s first book. How to Write One Song is the second book from Jeff Tweedy, whose memoir, Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back), was published in 2018.
