The film adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s The Husband’s Secret has found its director, Deadline reports.

Kat Coiro has reportedly agreed to direct the adaptation. She’s known for her work on television shows including It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Dead to Me, and Girls5eva, as well as the new movie Marry Me.

Moriarty’s novel, published in 2013 by Amy Einhorn/Putnam, follows a woman who finds a letter from her husband that he intended her to read after his death. She reads it while he’s still alive, and discovers that he’s been keeping a shocking secret.

In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “There is real darkness here, but it is offset by the author’s natural wit—she weaves in the Pandora myth and a history of the Berlin Wall—and irrepressible goodwill toward her characters.”

Christy Hall (I Am Not Okay With This) is writing the screenplay for the film, which will be produced by Paul Weitz, Chris Weitz, and Andrew Miano of Depth of Field, the production company behind films like About a Boy, A Single Man, and Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

Moriarty’s books have proved to be popular fodder for screen adaptations. Her novels Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers were both adapted into television series, and last week, it was announced that Apples Never Fall will form the basis of a show for NBC’s streaming service, Peacock.
