Mark and Scott Hoying are making their return to kid lit with a new children’s book coming next year, People magazine reports.

Scott Hoying, the singer-songwriter and member of the bands Pentatonix and Superfruit, and his husband, model Mark Hoying, will publish Fa La La Family, illustrated by Steph Lew, next fall with Henry Holt and Co. The press describes it as an “ode to the diverse ways families celebrate Christmas.”

The Hoyings and Lew collaborated previously on How Lucky Am I?, about two mayflies who fall in love. A critic for Kirkus called the book “a super-sweet tale of living in the moment.”

Fa La La Family “celebrates the spirit of Christmas and the true meaning of family,” Holt says. “Whether your family is near or far, born or chosen, made up of human or furry friends, Christmas is the time to celebrate with those who matter most.”

“As we grow up, we realize more than ever the importance of relationships and we want to cherish and celebrate them as much as possible!” the Hoyings told People. “We have met and know so many different people with all kinds of families, and [we] thought it would be beautiful to highlight each and every type of family there is!”

Fa La La Family is slated for publication on Sept. 2, 2025.
