Bestselling author Kristin Hannah’s next novel will hit shelves next year, the Associated Press reports.
St. Martin’s will publish Hannah’s The Women in the winter of 2024. The press describes the book as “a novel of searing insight and lyric beauty.”
The Women, set in 1965,will follow Frances “Frankie” McGrath, a 20-year-old nursing student who enlists in the Army Nurse Corps and serves in Vietnam. When she comes home, she is overwhelmed by the political divisions that have wracked the U.S.
Hannah made her literary debut in 1991 with the novel A Handful of Heaven. More than 20 books followed, including Angel Falls, Distant Shores, and The Things We Do for Love.
She scored a huge hit with her 2015 novel, The Nightingale, which was adapted into a film directed by Mélanie Laurent and starring Dakota and Elle Fanning. The movie was initially set to be released in 2018 but still hasn’t come out. Hannah’s most recent novel, The Four Winds, was published in 2021.
Hannah announced her new novel on Instagram, writing, “I absolutely LOVE this book. I think it has my favorite character of all time. Are you as excited as I am????? Who else can’t wait???”
The Women is slated for publication on Feb. 6, 2024.
