William Jackson Harper has joined the cast of the film adaptation of M.T. Anderson’s Landscape With Invisible Hand, Deadline reports.
Harper, known for his Emmy-nominated role as Chidi Anagonye on the cult-favorite sitcom The Good Place, is the latest addition to the cast of the movie, which will be directed by Cory Finley, known for his work on the films Thoroughbreds and Bad Education.
Anderson’s young adult science fiction book, published by Candlewick in 2017, tells the story of an invasion of Earth by aliens obsessed with 1950s pop culture. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “Resplendent with Anderson’s trademark dry, sarcastic wit, this brief, complicated read serves as a scathing social commentary and, as the title indicates, an interrogation of free market economics.”
Harper joins a cast that includes Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark), Clifton Collins Jr. (Westworld), Asante Blackk (This Is Us), Kylie Rogers (Home Before Dark), Josh Hamilton (Eighth Grade), and Shiquita James (The Underground Railroad).
The film will be produced by Jeremy Kleiner (If Beale Street Could Talk), Dede Gardner (12 Years a Slave), Sue Naegle (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), and Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty).
