Seinfeld actor Michael Richards will tell the story of his life and career in a new memoir, People magazine reports.
Independent publisher Permuted Press will publish Entrances and Exits, featuring a foreword by Jerry Seinfeld, next year. An Amazon page for the book says that in the memoir Richards “shares the extraordinary life of a comedy genius—the way he came into himself as an artist, the ups and downs as a human being, the road he has traveled in search of understanding.”
Richards began his career as a cast member of the short-lived late-night comedy show Fridays and went on to make appearances in series including Miami Vice and Cheers. In 1989, he was cast in Seinfeld as wacky neighbor Cosmo Kramer, becoming a fan favorite on the phenomenally popular sitcom.
Richards fell from grace in 2006 after a video surfaced showing him on stage at the Laugh Factory comedy club in Hollywood repeatedly screaming a racist slur at an audience member who he claimed heckled him; he later apologized for the outburst on the Late Show With David Letterman. Richards will reportedly address the incident in his memoir.
Richards shared the news of his memoir on Instagram: “Writing my life’s story has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I can’t wait to share it.”
Entrances and Exits is slated for publication on June 4, 2024.
