A memoir by Ione Skye is coming next year, according to People. Gallery Books will publish the actor’s Say Everything next spring.

The daughter of Scottish musician Donovan and American model Enid Karl, Skye made her film debut opposite Keanu Reeves in River’s Edge (1986). She is best known for her role as the object of John Cusack’s affections in Cameron Crowe’s Say Anything (1989).

In the upcoming book, Skye, 53, “reveals and reflects upon her messy, glamorous and unapologetically unconventional life, according to the publisher. The daughter of a magnetic ’60’s It Girl and the folk-singing legend Donovan, Skye chased her absent father’s approval throughout her life and sought warmth through infatuations and affairs with some of the brightest film stars, indie darlings and musicians of the time.”

Skye’s recollections previously inspired a children’s picture book, My Yiddish Vacation (2014), which a Kirkus reviewer called “a nostalgic look at 1970s Jewish Florida” based on the author’s childhood experiences visiting her mother’s parents.

With her husband, Australian singer-songwriter Ben Lee, Skye currently hosts the weekly podcast  Weirder Together, focusing on their lives as married artists.

Say Everything is scheduled for publication in April 2025.

Marion Winik hosts NPR’s The Weekly Reader podcast.
