Michelle Obama unveiled the list of celebrities who will join her on her book tour later this year, the Associated Press reports.
The former first lady will hit the road to promote her next book, The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times, which publisher Crown describes as “a rewarding blend of powerful stories and profound advice that will ignite conversation” and inspire readers “to examine their own lives, identify their sources of gladness, and connect meaningfully in a turbulent world.”
The tour will kick off on Nov. 15 in Washington, D.C., where Obama will appear for three consecutive nights at the Warner Theatre. Comedian Ellen DeGeneres will appear with Obama the first two nights, with poet Elizabeth Alexander moderating on the third.
Other guests will include Gayle King, Hoda Kotb, Tyler Perry, David Letterman, Heather McGhee, Conan O’Brien, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Michele Norris. The tour will end on Dec. 13 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, with Oprah Winfrey moderating.
Obama announced the lineup of guests on Instagram, writing, “I’m so excited to go on #TheLightWeCarry Tour with these wonderful people! I’ll be sharing some personal stories and lessons that have helped me along my path, and I can’t wait to tell you more. I hope you’ll join us!”
Obama’s upcoming tour mirrors the star-studded one she embarked on in 2018 to promote her bestselling memoir, Becoming. A Netflix documentary about the tour, also titled Becoming, was released in May 2020.
