The Netflix series adaptation of Harlan Coben’s Run Away has found its cast, with Minnie Driver, James Nesbitt, and Ruth Jones all set to star, Variety reports.
Coben’s novel, published in 2019 by Grand Central, follows Simon, a man determined to find his daughter, Paige, after she drops out of college and disappears. A critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “In seeking to extend his formidable range, Coben overreaches: the far-flung complications feel forced and schematic rather than nightmarish.”
Nesbitt (Waking Ned Devine, Bloody Sunday) will star as Simon, with Ellie de Lange (Wolf Hall) playing Paige. Driver (Good Will Hunting) and Jones (Gavin & Stacey) have also joined the cast, along with Alfred Enoch (How to Get Away With Murder), Jon Pointing (Big Boys), Annette Badland (Ted Lasso), and Lucian Msamati (Conclave).
Danny Brocklehurst (The Stranger) will be the lead writer for the series, which he will executive produce alongside Coben.
The series is one of many Netflix adaptations of Coben’s work; the author signed a deal with the streaming service in 2018. Other Coben books that Netflix has adapted include Stay Close, Fool Me Once, Gone for Good, Hold Tight, and Missing You. An adaptation of Coben’s I Will Find You is currently in the works.
