A new book by former first lady Michelle Obama is coming later this year, the Root reports.

Crown imprint Clarkson Potter will publish Obama’s Overcoming: A Workbook in the winter. The press describes it as “a stunningly designed workbook based on Michelle Obama’s No. 1 New York Times bestseller The Light We Carry, featuring practical tools for navigating life’s challenges and fortifying oneself in the face of uncertainty, obstacles, and self-doubt.”

Obama, the wife of former President Barack Obama, scored a massive bestseller in 2018 with her memoir, Becoming, and followed that up in 2022 with the inspirational nonfiction book The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times. A critic for Kirkus wrote of that book, “No surprises or reveals but plenty of warmth and encouragement, particularly for young people. A good holiday gift.”

Her workbook, Clarkson Potter says, contains “creative activities, reflective writing prompts, habit tracking tools, and more to provide the ultimate guide to unlocking your small power, sharing your whole self, showing up in relationships, and of course, ‘going high.’” (The phrase “going high” is a reference to Obama’s speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, in which she memorably said, “When they go low, we go high.”)

Obama announced her new book on the social platform X, writing, “Filled with thoughtful activities and writing prompts, I hope this workbook can help you unlock your power.”

Overcoming: A Workbook is slated for publication on Dec. 3.
