Tiffany Haddish will return to bookstores with a new essay collection, People magazine reports.
Diversion Books will publish the comedian and actor’s I Curse You With Joy next year. The press says that the essays in the book “lay it all bare, bringing readers into Tiffany’s inner circle where joy, honesty, humor, and heart are the order of the day.”
Haddish acted in the series If Loving You Is Wrong and The Carmichael Show before landing a breakout role in the 2017 film Girls Trip, which made her a comedy star. She went on to star in movies such as Night School, Like a Boss, and Haunted Mansion.
In 2017, she published her first book, the memoir The Last Black Unicorn. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus praised the book as “both entertaining and grippingly introspective” and a “take-no-prisoners tale [that] is a testament to self-will and how humor can save your life.” Last year, she released a children’s book, Layla, the Last Black Unicorn, co-written with Jerdine Nolen and illustrated by Jessica Gibson.
Her new book, Diversion says, “celebrates all the lessons she learned along the way—the joy and the pain. Tiffany reckons with the legacy of her childhood trauma, the challenges of being a black woman in the entertainment industry, and her bittersweet reunion with her estranged father after nearly twenty years apart.”
I Curse You With Joy is slated for publication on May 7, 2024.
