Carley Fortune’s fourth novel is coming next year, the author announced on Instagram.

Berkley will publish the author’s One Golden Summer next spring. The press describes the latest book from the romance novelist as “a radiant, new escape to the lake.”

Fortune made her literary debut in 2022 with Every Summer After, which follows a woman who reconnects with an old lover when she returns to the lakeshore of her childhood. She followed that up with two more romances, Meet Me at the Lake and This Summer Will Be Different.

Meet Me at the Lake is being developed as a Netflix film produced by Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Every Summer After is in the works as an Amazon series titled Every Year After.

One Golden Summer will follow Charlie Florek, a character from Every Summer After, and chart his relationship with a photographer named Alice, who is spending her summer in Barry’s Bay, Canada, to help her injured grandmother.

Fortune’s Instagram post features a video of direct messages from readers longing to see the character of Charlie return. “When I tell you I NEED a Charlie book,” says one; another reads, “I’m BEGGING you for a Charlie book!!”

“Introducing…ONE GOLDEN SUMMER!” Fortune writes in the caption. “It’s a love story about a photographer named Alice and a green-eyed flirt named Charlie. That’s right, we’re heading back to Barry’s Bay!”

One Golden Summer is slated for publication on May 6, 2025.
