One World will publish a book by Virgil Abloh, the iconic fashion designer who died last year, Vogue reports.
The publisher describes the book, Work in Progress, co-written with editor Anja Aronowsky Cronberg, as a “hybrid work that combines cultural criticism, theory, art, and personal narrative.”
Abloh, educated as an architect, began his career in fashion as an intern at Fendi, where he met rapper Kanye West, who would go on to hire Abloh to work at his creative agency, Donda. In 2012, Abloh founded Off-White, a fashion company that collaborated with a host of notable companies including IKEA, Converse, and Evian.
He became a household name in the fashion world after he was hired as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line. He died in 2021 at the age of 41 of a rare form of cancer.
One World says that Abloh “sought refuge in intellectual, theoretical, and imaginative conversations with Aronowsky Cronberg about his work” in the years before his death.
“Work in Progress is the culmination of their dialogue, a book that illuminates the ideas behind Abloh’s astonishing process and practice,” the publisher told Vogue.
Abloh is the author of a previous book, Insert Complicated Title Here, based on a lecture he gave at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. There’s currently no publication date set for Work in Progress.
