Bel Powley and Emma Appleton have joined the cast of a television adaptation of Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The actors will star in the BBC One series inspired by Alderton’s 2020 memoir, which chronicles her young adulthood and friendships. The memoir was shortlisted for the Waterstones Book of the Year Award and gained praise from critics, with a Kirkus reviewer calling it “a poignant breath of fresh air for those who struggled—or are struggling—with the dramedy of early adulthood.”
The series adaptation will tell the story of the friendship between two young women. Powley, known for her work in films like The Diary of a Teenage Girl and The King of Staten Island, will play Birdy, and Appleton, who starred in the television series Clique and Traitors, will portray Maggie.
Other actors in the project include Marli Siu (Anna and the Apocalypse) and Jordan Peters (Blue Story). Alderton is writing the teleplay for the series, which is being produced by Simon Maloney (I May Destroy You) and directed by China Moo-Young (Intergalactic).
“I can highly recommend re-casting your twenties with the most talented, funniest, hottest humans imaginable,” Alderton wrote on her Instagram account. “@ChinaMooYoung and I couldn’t be happier with the extraordinary actors who are going to bring the world and stories of Everything I Know About Love to life.”
Everything I Know About Love is scheduled to air next year.
