Charles, Prince of Wales, is hitting back against the claim in a new book that he speculated about the skin complexion of his future grandchildren, Us Weekly reports.
In Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, journalist Christopher Andersen alleges that Charles asked his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, about the future children of his younger son, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Harry’s wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Meghan is the daughter of a Black mother and a White father.
“I wonder what the children will look like?” Charles asked, according to Andersen.
“Well, absolutely gorgeous, I’m certain,” Camilla responded, to which Charles reportedly clarified, “I mean, what do you think their children’s complexion might be?”
A spokesperson for Charles said of the claim, “This is fiction and not worth further comment,” Reuters reports.
In his book, Andersen also claims that the romance between Harry and Meghan led to a tense moment between the prince and his older brother, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, according to Page Six.
When Harry told William he was planning to ask Meghan to marry him, William asked, “Why rush things?”
“Who the hell do you think you are?” Harry reportedly responded.
Brothers and Wives was published Tuesday by Gallery Books.
