Riley Keough teamed up with Reese Witherspoon’s book club and Apple Books to recommend some of her favorite reading material, People magazine reports.
Keough, the actor known for her roles in the films Mad Max: Fury Road and Zola, co-authored the memoir From Here to the Great Unknown with her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus praised the book as “a moving portrait of a life lived on the further reaches of the bizarre planet of American celebrity.”
She picked that book as one of her selections for Lit Check, the collaboration between Witherspoon and Apple. In a video, Keough said, “It’s a story about very human things: love and loss and grief and mothers and daughters.”
Keough also selected Daisy Jones & the Six, the Taylor Jenkins Reid novel that was adapted into a series in which she starred, and L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables, the iconic children’s novel. “I just loved this when I was a little girl,” Keough said of Montgomery’s book. “I was just obsessed with her and wanted to live her life.”
Keough endorsed another classic novel, Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women, which she called “a beautiful story,” as well as Goodnight Moon, written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd.
Rounding out Keough’s list were Looking for Smoke, K.A. Cobell’s young adult thriller, and Chanel Miller’s National Book Critics Circle Award–winning book, Know My Name, which she called “a very powerful memoir.”
