Ringo Starr is giving a valentine to his fans.
The Beatles drummer announced he’s publishing a new photo book, Lifted: Fab Images and Memories in My Life With the Beatles From Across the Universe, which will be released on Feb. 14, 2022. The book is being sold through California-based auction house Julien’s, with proceeds benefiting the Lotus Foundation, Starr’s social-welfare charity.
Starr says the photos in the book were “lifted” from various sources.
“I didn’t keep all these photos,” he said. “These fantastic images came back to me in recent years from here, there and everywhere—online and off—and have somehow helped me get back to seeing my life with The Fab Four through fresh eyes. A lot of the photos in this book I spotted on my phone and on my computer and ‘lifted’ them because they brought back so many fabulous memories.”
Starr’s book comes amid a resurgence in Beatlemania, spurred partially by the November release of Paul McCartney’s book The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, and by The Beatles: Get Back, Peter Jackson’s documentary series that recently debuted on the Disney+ streaming service.
The book is available for preorder in two versions: a $59 “collector’s edition” and a $495 “signature edition,” which is autographed by Starr.
“We’ve all been through a pretty tough time for a lot of people who’ve been locked down, and this book has really lifted my spirits and took me back to where I once belonged in a whole new way,” Starr said. “And in the end, that’s why this new book is called Lifted.”
