Onyi Nwabineli’s Someday, Maybe is the latest pick for the Good Morning America book club.

Nwabineli’s debut novel, published Tuesday by Graydon House, follows a woman whose life is changed forever after she discovers the body of her husband, who died by suicide. A critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “Nwabineli’s debut is deeply moving, tender, and, against all odds, funny.”

Nwabineli made a taped appearance on the show, saying, “I think you’re going to love this novel, as it’s an unconventional love story about loss and resilience.…If you love romance, if you love laughter, and you like a bit of a tear-jerker as well, this one’s definitely for you.”

Someday, Maybe was also one of Book of the Month’s five picks for November. Author Xio Axelrod warned readers, “Someday, Maybe will break your heart. Over and over. But you’ll keep reading because it is a beautifully visceral, soul-drenching pain that can only lead to catharsis. Grief is a fickle beast, and Onyi Nwabineli has caged it with her gorgeous prose in this devastating, witty debut.”

Nwabineli shared news of her book’s selection by GMA on Twitter, writing, “Someday, Maybe is @GMA’s Book Club pick for November and I cannot believe it. I am sitting here completely floored and so, so grateful! Thank you so much! Someday, Maybe in Times Square.”
