Paula Hawkins’ The Blue Hour is the latest pick for the Good Morning America book club.

Hawkins’ novel, published Tuesday by Mariner, follows James Becker, an art historian who is obsessed with the late artist Vanessa Chapman. When a scandal threatens to hurt Chapman’s reputation, Becker travels to a solitary Scottish island where the artist once lived, and is now inhabited by her friend, who is refusing to hand over Chapman’s papers and works.

In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus wrote of the novel, “This propulsive thriller twists into the dark and bloody underbelly of the world of fine art.”

ABC News meteorologist Ginger Zee announced the book’s selection on the morning show, calling it “just in time for Halloween…a thriller you are not going to want to miss.”

Hawkins is best known for her novel The Girl on the Train, published by Riverhead in 2015. The book was a bestseller and formed the basis for a 2016 film of the same name, directed by Tate Taylor and starring Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, and Haley Bennett. Hawkins’ other novels include the thrillers Into the Water and A Slow Fire Burning.
