Episode 377: Guest Host Karen M. McManus

BY MEGAN LABRISE • June 18, 2024

Karen M. McManus hosts Kathleen Glasgow on the Fully Booked Takeover.

On this week’s Fully Booked Takeover, special guest host Karen M. McManus welcomes Kathleen Glasgow for an unforgettable conversation about all things YA: from their respective creative processes to tackling sensitive topics in fiction; the importance of research; and the joys of the job.

The Fully Booked Takeover invites a beloved bestselling author to become our special guest host for one episode. They choose another author—or authors—whose work they admire for an in-depth conversation, writer to writer. The questions they ask and the topics they explore are all up to them.

McManus is the No. 1 New York Timesbestselling author of the One of Us Is Lying series, which became a television show on Peacock and Netflix in 2021. She also penned the standalone thrillers Two Can Keep a Secret, The Cousins, You’ll Be the Death of Me, and Nothing More To Tell. Her latest thriller, Such Charming Liars, will be published by Delacorte Press at the end of July. Kirkus calls the novel, starring mother-daughter grifters who decide to pull one last heist, “an unputdownable, deliciously twisty mystery.”

Her conversation partner Kathleen Glasgow is the No. 1 New York Timesbestselling author of Girl in Pieces, as well as How To Make Friends With the Dark and You’d Be Home Now. Glasgow is also the coauthor, with Liz Lawson, of The Agathas mystery series. Her latest novel, The Glass Girl, about a teen struggling with alcohol addiction in a time of tumult, will be published by Delacorte Press in October.

Then Laura Simeon, Mahnaz Dar, Eric Liebetrau, and Laurie Muchnick share their top picks in books for the week.
